Transportation

Traffic throughout this councilmanic district is either at gridlock, or getting there. No one needs to tell the people of Crofton how congested Rt. 3 is, and those in South County know that Rt. 2 is on its way to a similar status. Some simple, common sense solutions are possible (and it is amazing to me these solutions are not already in place). First, traffic lights need to be synchronized; the lights on Rt. 3 are not synchronized. Second, traffic circles can be built (like at the intersection of Rt. 2 and Harwood Rd.), in order to move people from one side of an intersection to the other. Lastly, we can have police officers direct traffic when traffic stops.

These approaches will not bring a long-term solution to the traffic woes of our district, however. For that, we need to re-visit the Small Area Development Plans, reach a consensus as to where we want to go, and figure out what improvements or changes are necessary to get there. I look forward to working with the people of this District in working on those plans.
