| Citizen Involvement People have said to me that this Council has fallen out of touch with its constituents, and has been making deals with developers, which the public is finding out about only at the last second. It seems to me there is merit to this complaint. Accordingly, the public will know of every meeting I go to, and what happens, whether it be with a corporation seeking to develop land, or a homeowner’s association opposing such development. The government is also able to shield from the public what it does pursuant to a legal doctrine called “executive privilege.” I have had to litigate this issue on a number of occasions, and I have always found it to be an excuse for hiding government misdeeds from the public. Accordingly, if I am elected, I will introduce a bill waiving executive privilege, so the people always know what their government is doing.
